A modern large apartment complex consisting of 4 towers close to the beach and is within walking distance from the Melbourne CBD. This St. Kilda Rd property now enjoys the superior image quality and time savings offered as a result of a pure IP based CCTV surveillance system.

Business Challenge

The security and well-being of it's residents and property; incident management and mitigating vandalism was a top priority for the owners corporation of the facility. As a result, our business partner needed a video surveillance system which uses state of the art proven technology to replace their limited analogue based security cameras CCTV. The system had to be future-proof and flexible enough to handle the future growth and offer maximum efficiency, scalability and reliability in order to handle the task of processing large volumes of video data . Most importantly our business partner needed to replace the existing analogue based video surveillance system which offered very limited quality and functionality and expand the system to mitigate the limited coverage offered by the analogue system.

Solution

A pure IP based video content management system consisting of Milestone XProtect Enterprise ™ Software and 114 Axis communications IP cameras was implemented by OmniVisionto meet the business challenges presented.  Powerful video content management features offered by Milestone XProtect Enterprise™ enabled our business partner to efficiently manage and process the video content with minimum effort. OmniVision utilised Intel™ core i7 based OEM servers and implemented server clustering due to the flexibility and scalability the hardware offered. A separate large RAID storage array was connected to each server in a DAS configuration to store the video data. The fault tolerance and redundancy offered by the RIAD configuration ensured the high availability of video data .  Several sub distribution points were strategically placed throughout the property and connected to the main servers at the purpose built main communication room. Client systems located in the management office displays all live video streams on a video wall 24/7 creating a monitoring centre like environment for the property management. Another client system was dedicated for data manipulation which enabled the management to keep a 360 degree view of the property always.  Today, our business partner not only enjoys the lower cost of ownership offered by the flexible camera and storage options, but also superior image quality and powerful video content management features offered by the solution  .
