Business Challenge
The security of the Hampton Park distribution facility and safety of its employees has always been of top priority for the management of the facility. As a result, our business partner needed a security and parameter protection system which took advantage of the latest technology. The system had to be a future-proof, flexible video surveillance system which offered maximum efficiency, scalability and reliability to meet the business partner’s requirements. Furthermore there entire facility needed an access control systems and a intruder alarm system to facilitate the monitoring of security and management of business policies. XAct Solutions as the design consultants chose OmniVision as the solution provider after a rigorous evaluation process.
Solution
A pure IP based video content management system based on Aimetis Symphony™ Client & Server Software and 70 IP cameras was implemented by OmniVision as the CCTV solution to overcome the business challenges presented. A Tecom™ challenger based intruder detection system with over 140 connections points and DSX access control systems with over 18 doors was implemented to overcome the challenges presented with security and business policy monitoring. OmniVision utilised a combination of COTS hardware along with IqinVision and AXIS communication IP cameras for the flexibility and scalability they offered. Due to the large nature of the area covered conventional network cabling could not be used to interconnect sub distribution points to the main servers. A commercial grade fibre network was used to overcome this situation. Server clustering was used to make the solution scalable as per the business requirements. This not only made the solution scalable but also faults tolerance to a certain degree. DSX Access System was also distributed in several parts of the facility and was interconnected though the fibre network back to the main controller unit located in the main communications room. This allowed for the for centralised management of the system greatly minimising the time it took to manage the system. Today, our business partner not only enjoys the lower cost of ownership offered by the flexibility of this solution but also superior image quality and powerful video content management features and ease of use offered by the solution.
