Customer Profile
As the largest provider of a vital building material for the Australian construction industry; this business partner has multiple manufacturing and warehouse locations throughout Australia. Located in Clayton Victoria is one such location which now enjoys superior image quality and time savings offered by video content analysis; as a result of a pure IP based CCTV surveillance system.
Business Challenge
The security of the Clayton manufacturing and distribution facility and safety of its employees has always been of top priority for the management of the facility. As a result, our business partner needed a video surveillance system which takes advantage of the latest technology. The system had to be a future-proof, flexible video surveillance system with maximum efficiency, scalability and reliability to meet the business partner’s requirements. Furthermore, there was a specific need for the use of video content analysis based alert generation to track HSSE compliance issues.
Solution
A pure IP based video content management and analysis system based on IP Surveillance platform Client & Server Software was implemented by OmniVision. Powerful video content analysis was used to track directional movements of vehicles and produce alerts according to set criteria. OmniVision utilised a combination of COTS hardware and IQinVision IP cameras for the flexibility and scalability they offered. Due to the large nature of the area covered conventional network cabling could not be used to interconnect sub distribution points to the main servers. A commercial grade fibre network was used to overcome this situation. Server clustering was used to make the solution scalable as per the business requirements. This not only made the solution scalable but also faults tolerance to a certain degree. Today, our business partner not only enjoys the lower cost of ownership offered by the flexible camera and storage options, but also superior image quality and powerful video content analysis offered by the solution.
