Our work for Reece’s distribution centre in Hampton Park, Victoria, stands out among our many successes. Installing a pure IP-based CCTV surveillance system resulted in significant time savings and superior image quality. We hope you don’t mind us saying we are flushed with happiness at how well it turned out for Reece!
Reece is a household name in Australia as the leading supplier of bathroom and plumbing products with over 400 stores across the country. Hampton Park in Melbourne’s southeast was the chosen site for its new distribution centre. Obviously, it needed a comprehensive and innovative security system. Design consultants XAct Solutions chose OmniVision as the solution provider after a rigorous evaluation process.
The safety of employees and the security of a facility is always a priority for management, no matter the industry. Reece was no different, and needed a security and parameter protection system that took advantage of the latest technology. The system had to be a future-proof, flexible video surveillance system offering maximum efficiency, scalability and reliability. The entire facility needed access control systems and an intruder alarm system to facilitate the monitoring of security and management of business policies.
We implemented a pure IP-based video content management system based on Aimetis Symphony Client & Server Software with 70 IP cameras. We also implemented a Tecom challenger-based intruder detection system with over 140 connections points, and DSX access control systems with over 18 doors. We utilised a combination of COTS hardware along with IqinVision and AXIS communication IP cameras for the flexibility and scalability they offered.
Conventional network cabling could not be used to interconnect sub distribution points to the main servers, due to the large size of the site, so we used commercial grade fibre network. Server clustering was used to make the solution scalable, as Reece had specified. A DSX Access System achieved centralised management, minimising the time it took to manage the system.
Today, Reece enjoys the flexibility of this easy to use solution as well as superior image quality and powerful video content management features.
